SOUTHERN DISTRICTS RUGBY CLUB
El club se formó en 1989 mediante la unión de St George y Port Hacking estableciendo su base en Forshaw Rugby Park, Sylvania Waters, al sur de Sydney.
Los colores del club son rojo, blanco, celeste y negro y se los conoce como “rayado caramelo”. El rojo y el blanco son los colo-res del club St. George y el celeste y el negro corresponden a Port Hacking.
Los otros clubes de Sydney apodan a Southern Districts “Los Rebeldes” porque el club está en la zona sur y porque sus colores recuerdan los del ejército sureño en la guerra de sesesión de los EEUU. Los rebeldes tienen una ganada fama de ser un equipo de mucho corazón, garra y son difíciles de vencer en su cancha.
El club presenta 5 divisiones mayores y tres equipos colts que compiten en la modificada liga Sydney Rugby Union Premiership.
TEMPORADA 2011 DE SOUTHERN DISTRICTS
Nuestro primer equipo tuvo un año bastante difícil en 2011 debido a las lesiones y los reveses. Los muchachos fueron muy desafortunados de no haber alcanzado las finales pero muchos jugadores fueron elegidos para distintos seleccionados.
Nuestro equipo de Intermedia se coronó Campeón de la Gran Final 2011, ganando el Colin Caird Shield contra Eastwood. Este fue el primer Gran Campeonato del club desde su fusión en 1989.
El tercer equipo, al igual que el primero, tuvo un año con altibajos con muchos lesionados lo que le impidió llegar a las finales.
El cuarto equipo tuvo un año muy duro y llegó hasta las semifina-les de la temporada 2011, siendo derrotado por los campeones de la división, West Harbour.

Jugadores de Southern Districts en el Super Rugby 2011: John Ulugia (Waratahs), Sitaleki Timani (Waratahs), Brackin Karuinia Henry (Waratahs), Kane Douglas (Waratahs), Rob Horne (Waratahs), Ita Vaea (Brumbies), Dan Palmer (Brumbies), Cooper Vuna (Melbourne Rebels), Tetra Faulkner (Western Force), Nick Cummins (Western Force), y Radike Samo (Reds).
Además, Radike Samo, Rob Horne y Sitaleki Timani tuvieron el honor de recibir Caps de Wallabies en 2011. Y 3 jóvenes, Rohan Saifolio, Ben Volavola y Apo Latunipulu integraron el equipo de Australia M20 en la Copa del Mundo que se jugó en Italia.
OBJETIVOS DE LA COPA PATAGONIA
Southern Districts Rugby espera aprender y desarrollar a todos los jugadores que participan en la gira exponiéndolos a los estilos de juego de algunos de los mejores equipos de Argentina y Nueva Zelanda.
Además esperamos con ansiedad experimentar la cultura de los argentinos.
Southern Districts tiene puesto el objetivo en llevarse la Copa Patagonia con ellos de regreso a Australia.

SOUTHERN DISTRICTS RUGBY CLUB
The club was formed in 1989 by the amalgamation of St George and Port Hacking rugby clubs, with its headquarters at Forshaw Rugby Park, Sylvania Waters, south of Sydney.
The club plays in red, white, sky blue and black jumpers known as the “candy stripe”. The red and white are the old St. George club colours, and the sky blue and black are the old Port Hacking club colours.
Southern Districts are known as “The Rebels” by the other Sydney clubs, as the club is situated south of Sydney and share similarities to members of the Southern Union Army in the American Civil War. The Rebels have always been known as being rough, tough, resourceful and hard to beat on their own soil.
The club currently fields 5 open grade teams, and 3 colts teams in the reformed Sydney Rugby Union Premiership.
SOUTHERN DISTRICTS 2011 SEASON
Our first grade team had quite a difficult year in 2011 with many injuries and setbacks. They were very unlucky to not make the finals but many players achieved representative honours.
Our reserve grade team became Grand Final Champions in 2011, winning the Colin Caird Shield against Eastwood. This was the club's first major grade premiership since amalgamation in 1989.
The third grade team, like first grade, also had a mixed year, with injuries playing a major part in missing out on a finals position.
The fourth grade team had a hard fought year and achieved semi finalist status in 2011. The team was eliminated from the competition in the semi final by the eventual fourth grade champions West Harbour.
REPRESENTATIVE HONOURS:
Southern Districts Sydney Rugby Representatives for 2011: Dewet Roos and Sean Doyle. Southern Districts Super Rugby Representatives for 2011 include: John Ulugia (Waratahs), Sitaleki Timani (Waratahs), Brackin Karuinia Henry (Waratahs), Kane Douglas (Waratahs), Rob Horne (Waratahs), Ita Vaea (Brumbies), Dan Palmer (Brumbies), Cooper Vuna (Melbourne Rebels), Tetra Faulkner (Western Force), Nick Cummins (Western Force), and Radike Samo (Reds).
Additionally, Radike Samo, Rob Horne and Sitaleki Timani were all rewarded with Wallabies Caps in 2011. And 3 youngsters, Rohan Saifolio, Ben Volavola and Apo Latunipulu in the Australian under 20's World Cup team that played in Italy.
COPA PATAGONIA GOALS
Southern Districts Rugby hopes to learn and develop all the players on tour by exposing them to the Rugby playing styles of some of the best teams from Argentina and New Zealand.
We are also looking forward to experiencing the culture of the Argentinean people.
Southern Districts have their eyes set on taking the Copa Patagonia back home with them to Australia.
