CHRISTCHURCH HSOB - NZ
Una vez más High School Old Boys viaja para competir en la Copa Patagonia. Esta será nuestra séptima participación en el Torneo y se trata de un vaje que todos esperamos con mucha ansiedad tanto por el deseo de jugar al rugby como por la tremenda experiencia que esta gira les ofrece a nuestros jugadores.
La gira de este año es particularmente grata dado que viajaremos con el equipo femenino de HSOB/Burnside quienes compartirán con nosotros el honor de representar, cada uno en su disciplina, no sólo a nuestros clubes sino al país.
Los últimos 12-18 meses han sido sumamente difíciles para nosotros en Christchurch ya que hemos tenido que enfrentar la destrucción de vidas y viviendas y es por eso que estoy particularmente orgulloso del compromiso mostrado por nuestros jugadores y por el Club al respaldar nuestra intención de participar en este evento.
Nuestro equipo estará formado por un nuevo grupo de jugadores que han escuchado las historias de nuestra giras anteriores y desean participar de esa experiencia. Una vez más renovaremos viejas amistades y estrecharemos los vínculos con nuestros amigos de Bahía Blanca quienes durante los últimos 13 años han abierto sus corazones y nos han recibido en sus hogares. Estoy seguro de que una vez que haya sonado el silbato final y se hayan apagado los ecos de las competencias de rugby, hockey y softbol las amistades forjadas durante la semana habrán de permanecer.
Aguardo con entusiasmo el comienzo de la competencia y reconozco que los eventos prestigiosos como este se construyen sobre la base de muchas horas de trabajo duro y del gran esfuerzo de un grupo enérgico y entusiasta de voluntarios. Quiero agradecerles a todos ellos, y a los esponsors, por sus esfuerzos, su visión y su compromiso para hacer que todo esto sea posible. No tengo dudas de que esta edición será mejor que las anteriores y les deseo a todos los involucrados que disfruten de un gran torneo.
Once again High School Old Boys makes the journey to compete in the Patagonia Cup. This will be our 7th appearance at the Tournament and it is a journey that is eagerly anticipated for both the rugby competition and the tremendous experience that this tour affords to our players.
This year is particularly exciting given that we will be travelling with the HSOB/Burnside women's Hockey team who will join us in representing not only our clubs but country in our respective competitions.
For us in Christchurch the past 12-18 months have been extremely trying and difficult as we have had to deal with the destruction and loss of property and life in our city and therefore I am particularly proud of the commitment shown by our players and the Club in backing our desire to maintain our participation in this event.
We are looking forward to bringing a new group of players who have heard the stories from our previous tours and wish to share in that experience. We will once again renew old acquaintances and share a common bond with our friends from Bahia Blanca who over the last 13 years have opened their hearts and taken us into their homes. I am sure that once the final whistle has blown and the rugby, hockey and soft-ball competitions have faded that the friendships forged over the week will endure.
I look forward to the competition commencing and recognize that prestigious events such as this are built on many hours of hard work and labor by an energetic and passionate group of volunteers. I thank them, and the sponsors, for their efforts, vision and commitment in bringing this together. I have no doubt that this years tournament will be better than the last and I wish all those involved the very best for a great tournament.
